What type of US businesses is in demand in Qatar?

There is a demand for several different types of businesses in Qatar. The government is actively trying to diversify the economy so they are prepared when the oil runs out. The problem that they are facing is that there are few companies in Qatar that have the experience that is necessary to make this happen. Therefore they are going to have to rely on foreign companies which is good news if you are considering starting a business in Qatar.

The most in demand type of business in Qatar remains companies that work in the oil sector. The government has been making an effort to get more Qatari owned businesses involved in this sector but they are still a long way from being able to handle all of the work that is necessary. There are many aspects to the oil industry from finding it to drilling it to transporting it and all of these areas of the industry need the assistance of US companies to keep them going.

The other big area where there is a huge demand for US businesses in developing the infrastructure of the country. The rapidly growing economy has made this increasingly necessary especially when combined with the country being awarded the 2022 World Cup. There is going to have to be a lot of infrastructure built to accommodate the World Cup as the country currently has nowhere near enough stadiums or hotels. In addition there things like the new roads and a new airport that have to be built because of the rapid growth in the nation's wealth. There are nowhere near enough companies in Qatar that can handle this so they are heavily reliant on foreign companies.

The financial services sector is becoming a more and more important part of Qatar's economy as they are starting to become an economic hub of the region. This means that they need companies that have the necessary expertise to offer these services. There is huge scope for growth in this segment of the economy which makes it one that a lot of companies are looking to get into. Currently there are few local companies that have the expertise that is required to offer financial services so there is a huge need for them.

One last area where US companies may be able to do well in the Qatar is in the tourism business. The government has seen the success that the UAE has had in becoming a tourist center and they want to follow suit. As a result the government are actively encouraging the development of the tourism industry in Qatar. The problem that they face is that with no previous experience in tourism they have few companies that can offer the necessary services. Therefore this is another area that will have to be filled by American and other foreign companies.
